livin' loved, livin' lavish

How to deal with insecurities and actually radiate Christ’s confidence, not just acting confident but truly being confident in Christ. How do we live like that? How do we radiate Christ’s love when we feel really unloved by those around us?

I wanna start in Ephesians. Once we realize our eternal purpose in Jesus we gain a boldness and have access to an abundance of confidence that wasn’t there before. Ephesians 2:12-14, Once we were alienated, actually in this world with no hope/friends, but then the blood of Christ brought us near and he himself becomes our peace. His death broke down the wall of hostility this world puts up once and for all. And no matter what anyone says or does to you, they cannot rebuild that wall of hostility and restlessness because the Prince of Peace is breaking down every brick of pain they keep trying to pile up. If you listen to people and let them continue to get in your head the walls will continue to get bigger and stronger, but only as long as you let them. Running to Jesus for that defining peace & reassurance, causes the bricks to start to fall away again. We all have walls of insecurities we’ve allowed to grow further than we wanted them to.

For me, my insecurities grow most when I am imagining what people are thinking or saying of me (when in reality they probably weren’t thinking about me at all).  This is what we do. We pick something we think is wrong with us and obsess over it and how everyone else is obsessing about it too (even though they probably aren’t). So all the walls of insecurity we think the “bullies” built up were in reality built by ourselves because we let their opinions and our success level depend on what we thought they were thinking about us.

Ecclesiastes 10:9 says “whoever quarries stones may be injured by them; whoever splits logs may be endangered by them” a lot of times we set ourselves up for the hostility and slandering when we try to fit into their world. Sometimes the harder we try the colder we begin to feel. One of my favorite authors, Lysa Teurkest writes on Psalm 91 in her book Uninvited. The whole 91st chapter is AMAZING, but one of my favorite parts is when He says “you will not fear the terror of night, thousands may fall at your side but it will not come near you. If you say the Lord is my refuge and you make the most high your dwelling no harm will overtake you (it doesn’t say you wont have harm done to you, just that it won’t overtake you!!), For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways, they will lift you up in their hands.” Haha WHAT?! Imagine if every time someone/something made you feel insecure you felt the angels championing you on. You’re actually crowd surfing through life on the shoulders of the most holy beings besides Christ himself. When you think about it like that having confidence in all circumstancs should be easy amirite?

“Fear cannot catch what it can no longer reach.” Let’s crowd surf with the angels instead of letting the haters dance all over us okay? Okay.

Also in Psalm 91 Jesus says, “Because he loves me I will rescue him, I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver and honor him.” The perfection we are chasing is just wasted energy, lets live like we’re loved, act like we’ve been set free. We are valuable, think about the one who holds your heart. Live in that mercy, that confidence that we can live like we’re loved and act like we’ve been set free. Let’s stand like we know who He made us to be. Instead of allowing fear to step on top of us let’s walk into our destiny and purpose, to love and live loved.

I wanna rap up with a quote I came across a few weeks ago that really strengthened the way I treat people. “Don’t be the reason someone feels insecure. Be the reason someone feels seen, hear, and supported by the whole universe.” – Cle Wade

extra bible verses:

Ecclesiastes 10:4 “calmness can lay great offense to rest”

Ecclesiastes 9:6-7, 10

"6 Their love, their hate and their jealousy have long since vanished;

never again will they have a part in anything that happens under the sun.

7 Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for God has already approved what you do.

10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might"
